Please note: The CTC Wings ATP route is currently closed for applications. At this time we have fulfilled the requirement for CTC Wings ATP and we have, therefore, temporarily closed the application system for new CTC Wings ATP applicants. Please enter your email address below to register for updates or monitor the website over the coming months for further updates on when the programme is likely to re-open.

  • hold a current JAA/EASA fATPL with first series passes in both the IR and CPL skills test
  • hold a current JAA/EASA Multi-Engine Instrument Rating
  • have passed all 14 ATPL Theoretical Knowledge exams with no more than 3 subjects passed at the second attempt

* All non native English speakers will be required to meet IELTS 5.5 and produce relevant certification to prove this. You will not be expected to provide this prior to selection, but it will be stated as a requirement in any provisional offer of training and part of the pre course admin process. We understand the average cost of this test to be £130 and there are around 800 test centres worldwide. The results take 13 days to be received. Further information can be found at http://www.ielts.org/default.aspx

** If you do not have the right to live and work in the EEA or Switzerland, you may be eligible for one of the routes into our CTC Wings programme in New Zealand or one of our tailored airline cadet programmes. Alternatively, please monitor this website for a potential change in entry criteria for opportunities in the Far East and Australasia.

Application

The selection process for aspiring CTC Wings ATP pilots is challenging and competitive, designed to test your mettle through each of the four phases - application, testing, interview and CTC's Airline Qualification Course.

By the end of the process, both you and CTC will have a clear, all-round picture of your abilities and your potential as a pilot.

Fill in the online application form. Your application will be carefully screened to ensure your suitability for the next stage.

Assessment

All suitable applicants are invited to take part in an assessment day. During the morning we will test your numerical skills, discover your natural ability using the world's leading pilot aptitude testing system and you will take part in some group activities for us to evaluate your interpersonal skills.

We'll also endeavour to answer any remaining questions you have about CTC Wings during a presentation delivered by one of the CTC team.

Please note: You will be required to produce original evidence of your ATPL exam results at this phase of selection. We will take photocopies of this paperwork to be retained on your training file if you are successful through selection.

Interview

Those who are successful at Step 2 will be asked to stay on for the afternoon and complete an interview conducted by members of our CTC Wings selection team. (On occasions, this interview might need to take place at a later date which we will arrange at a time that is mutually agreeable).

We will normally advise you of the result of your interview within 24 hours and those successful will be invited to book themselves on to an 'Airline Qualification Course' which forms the fourth and final phase of your assessment.

AQC

As a CTC Wings ATP applicant, the final stage of selection is our 'Airline Qualification Course' (AQC) which you are required to complete before you can join the programme. This bespoke course which is unique to CTC affords you valuable training in either the B737 or Airbus A320 simulator.  The course combines the MCC (Multi Crew Cooperation certificate), an airline Initial CRM (Crew Resource Management) syllabus and and advanced handling skills programme.  Subject to successful performance to CTC Wings standard during the AQC, you will be placed in our unique CTC Wings ATP database awaiting any type-rating and airline placement opportunities with one of our partner airlines.

Please note:  The CTC Wings ATP database augments the CTC Wings Cadet hold pool. Pilots on the CTC Wings ATP database will be called up for type ratings when we do not have enough cadets ready and available for type rating.

It should also be noted that some airlines may require a contribution towards type rating costs.  Details of the terms on offer will be made available for you to review at the point of offer as these can vary from time to time and airline to airline.

Naturally our partner airlines will also want to get to know you, so in addition to these four steps, you might be invited to an additional interview or to an extra selection session during your training with us.
