About Southampton

About Crew Training Centre - Southampton

CTC Aviation Group Limited is a leading provider of aviation training and consultancy services to major airlines round the world as well as individual pilots.

Our Crew Training Centre, Southampton is a state-of-the-art simulator facility located on the outskirts of Southampton on the south coast of England -  just a few minutes from our Crew Accommodation and Airline Selection Centre at Dibden Manor and approximately 25 minutes’ drive from our Crew Training Centre – Bournemouth.    The centre provides high-level training support for the ATPL theory, Intermediate and Advanced stages of your CTC Wings training as well as airline specific training for qualified airline pilots from our client airlines around the world.

Cadets on the European programmes will spend the first 5 months of their training here completing their ATPL theory before heading off to New Zealand or Phoenix, Arizona (USA) to start the flying training.  You will then return to Southampton towards the end of your training to complete your Intermediate and Advanced training before joining your airlines.  (Very occasionally some airlines deliver the type rating - Advanced - training themselves.  On those occasions you may find that you complete your final phase of training with your airline rather than CTC Aviation.  This could even mean a trip abroad again.)

Cadets from the New Zealand and Jetstar programmes will also get to experience the airline atmosphere at Southampton as you too will normally complete your Airline Qualification Course and type rating training with CTC Aviation at our Southampton facility.

Facilities include five flight simulators, including two Airbus A320 full flight simulators, a Boeing 737-800 NG full flight simulator and two Flight Training Devices for the Boeing 737-300 and Boeing 737-700. Complementing the simulators are a suite of specialist CBT (Computer Based Training) training rooms, briefing rooms, two Airbus VFDs (Virtual Flight Decks), a spacious refreshment area, comprehensive engineering support facilities and ample parking.  The centre is also a CAA Approved ATPL exam centre.

During your training at Nursling, you will mix and mingle with other cadets and experienced airline pilots and - being in the midst of an airline training facility - you will be able to join in on sim sessions on an ad hoc basis and benefit from the expertise of our airline training captains who will offer support and advice throughout your training.

CTC Wings Cadets for our European programmes training at Nursling during the ATPL phase of training will normally be accommodated in shared houses in the local area.  You will share with your course colleagues and the houses are located within easy reach of our UK Crew Training Centres.  On occasions you may also be accommodated at Dibden Manor for brief periods of your basic training.  Pilots completing intermediate and advanced training with us at Nursling will normally be based at our fully residential facilities at Dibden Manor or in a nearby hotel.
