Entry Criteria

To qualify for this unique opportunity and be eligible to apply you need to meet the following requirements:

Australian Applicants

  • Be at least 17 years of age at the beginning of training
  • Hold Citizen or Permanent Resident status in either Australia or New Zealand
  • Have satisfactorily completed Year 12 Secondary School subjects including Maths*, Science, and English
  • Be fluent in English (both spoken and written)
  • Be eligible to hold a CASA Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • Be prepared to complete a Criminal History, Politically Motivated Violence and Citizenship Check carried out by the Australian Federal Police (AFP), the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) and the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA). To undergo the check you must fill out a consent form and pay AU$104.50. Specific instructions for this check will be issued to candidates at the appropriate stage of the selection process and it must be completed before training can commence.
  • * lower level mathematics courses are not sufficient for entry into Jetstar’s cadet programme. Examples of unsuitable maths programmes are: General Mathematics (NSW), Maths in Society (NSW, QLD), Social Maths (QLD), Further Mathematics (VIC), Discrete Mathematics (WA), Mathematical Methods (SA) and Mathematical Applications (SA). Any Bachelor Degree will be recognised as an alternative to the Year 12 subject pass

New Zealand Applicants

  • Be at least 17 years of age at the beginning of training
  • Hold Citizen or Permanent Resident status in either Australia or New Zealand
  • Have satisfactorily completed Level 2 NCEA** with 12 credits each in English, Maths, and a Science subject
  • Be fluent in English (both spoken and written)
  • Be eligible to hold a CAANZ Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • Be prepared to complete a CAANZ Fit and Proper Person application which includes providing a Criminal Record History (available from the Ministry of Justice) and an Offence History Report (available from the Land Transport Authority)
  • ** Any Bachelor Degree will be recognised as an alternative to the Year 12 subject pass
