Training
CTC's Ab Initio programme provides training on:
-
Basic handling and single engine phases
-
Complex multi-engine and instrument flying
-
Multi-crew training essential for all airline pilots
-
Aircraft and company specific training for Jetstar
CTC’s specialist airline approach means your training will also incorporate airline disciplines and procedures.
Your training will initially take place at CTC’s Crew Training Centre in Hamilton, New Zealand. The more advanced, airline and Airbus specific training will then take place at our Southampton (UK) facilities.
The Ab initio course is approximately 65 weeks (15 months) in basic licence training and then a further 10-12 weeks for intermediate and advanced training on the Airbus A320.
To achieve your Commercial Pilots Licence you will undertake classroom training and self study towards exams in navigation, meteorology, aircraft technical knowledge, human factors, principles of flight, aircraft performance, radio telephony, and approximately 200 hours of airborne flight training (details below).
Ground School: 600 hours
Single Engine Flying: 180 hours
Twin engine flying: 20 hours
Simulator: 30 hours
On completion of this training and the successful achievement of your CPL and Multi Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR), you will undertake intermediate level training - in the form of CTC’s unique Airline Qualification Course (AQC) - and type rating training with CTC in the UK. Please refer to the CTC Advanced Cadet Programme page for full details of intermediate and advanced training.
