Training
CTC’s Advanced Cadet Programme provides training on:
-
Airline Qualification Course (AQC)
-
Type Rating Training
The AQC is a crucial step in the development and training of an airline pilot. Delivered in the UK at CTC’s Crew Training Centre near Southampton, this 3-week course is hands-on, airline-focused training with 36 hours of jet simulator time to give you the skills you need to manage a commercial flight deck and operate today’s advanced jet aircraft in a multi-crew, IFR environment.
Our unique AQC course is widely recognised as being among the best airline preparation programmes in the industry, having significantly more relevant simulator hours and being delivered by highly experienced airline training captains who incorporate airline-type scenarios in your training and ensure you are ready to move seamlessly into your jet type rating training for Jetstar.
The first phase of the AQC is designed to develop multi-crew skills within a disciplined flight deck environment. Our instructors will seek to improve your instrument scan, enhance your situation awareness and review advanced techniques in flight path management and procedural flying.
Week 1 consists of five days in the classroom, developing the knowledge required for complex aircraft operation, an understanding of the concept of multi-crew co-operation and the airline operating environment. This includes an airline standard three-day course in Crew Resource Management (CRM).
Week 2 consists of five days in the A320 flight simulator, developing multi-crew communication, decision-making, co-ordination, and management skills.
Week 3 is all about understanding and developing the advanced handling skills required for all jet aircraft. It starts with a further day in ground-school, during which you will review jet aerodynamics and swept-wing handling techniques, gaining additional knowledge of adverse weather conditions and the IFR environment.
The course continues with another four days of training in the A320 simulator, culminating in an assessment on day 4. The AQC must be successfully completed to a required standard before progressing on to the A320 Type Rating.
The final and most exciting step before you qualify as a First Officer is your type rating training.
Delivered at our Southampton training centre in the UK, the type rating course lasts approximately 6-7 weeks and incorporates aircraft specific theoretical knowledge training as well as a significant number of hours flying the full flight simulator employing Jetstar’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
On successful completion of your type rating you will be eligible to be employed by Jetstar* where you will operate alongside a Training Captain for a period of time until you are checked to line as a qualified First Officer for Jetstar.
*Subject to completion of training to Jetstar's standards and pilot vacancies
