British Airways signs a long term contract with the CTC Aviation group of companies to sponsor and secure the flight training for Future Pilot Programme cadets

British Airways has selected Airline Placement Limited (APL), a wholly owned subsidiary of CTC Aviation Group plc (CTC), to sponsor all cadets for the flagship British Airways Future Pilot Programme (FPP).  British Airways has also nominated CTC Aviation, with flight schools in both the UK and New Zealand, as an approved supplier of the cadet training for the Future Pilot Programme.

Launching the Future Pilot Programme today (11 August 2011), British Airways confirms that APL will sponsor nearly 100 cadets in the first year.   It is anticipated that half of the estimated 800 pilots who join BA over the next five years will be successful Future Pilot Programme graduates.

APL plays a vital role in the establishment of new sponsored flight training programmes, sponsoring the pilots, securing the training and then placing them with the client airline.

The Future Pilot Programme is part of a wider pilot recruitment plan at British Airways. The airline is also taking on current commercial pilots and working with the UK Armed Forces to give military pilots a new career in commercial aviation, once their agreed service period has ended.  

Future Pilot Programme cadets with CTC will benefit from the following additional programme features -
• Flight training takes place in both New Zealand and the UK

• CTC’s ‘Vertically Integrated’ approach to training will fully prepare the trainee for a future pilot role within an airline.  You will do things the airline way throughout your training.

• Cadets will learn to fly on the most technologically advanced twin engine aircraft – the DA42 – utilising equipment and facilities that are similar to the Airbus and Boeing aircraft in use with the airlines

• Applying through CTC for British Airways’ FPP opens more than just one door of opportunity.  Even if the applicant is not successful through FPP selection, there is the option of progressing through training with CTC Wings and becoming a pilot with any one of CTC’s other Partner Airlines.

• Because APL sponsors a CTC Wings pilot, there may be the opportunity to join British Airways even if the trainee was not selected for FPP prior to commencing training.   This unique opportunity to join British Airways as a cadet pilot is only available through CTC.
